Sculpture is often one of the most neglected of the art experiences, it has a physical nature that requires a larger space both for its production and display than conventional 2 Dimensional pieces, it takes longer to produce and requires more materials, and the list of negatives goes on. However these projects provide unique learning experiences that develop 3 dimensional understanding, skills in the physical manipulation of materials, cognitive thinking and working process that can ignite the enthusiasm and imagination of the whole school.

Barbara has experience of both small and large scale projects, producing final pieces for both the indoor and outdoor environment, which can be worked on by an individual or small group to those incorporating a contribution from all members of the school community. The design and techniques involved in each project will vary in complexity depending upon the age and ability of the group and materials employed.

Areas of expertise include:

  • Natural materials -Living & brown willow, bamboo
  • Re-cycled materials
  • Papier-mâché
  • Carnival construction materials and techniques
