Paper Making

As a practicing artist Barbara has researched and developed the use of paper as an art form, and by refining and simplifying techniques has made it a creative art medium that is accessible to students of all ages and abilities. Paper provides a cheap and renewable material which can be transformed into colourful pieces that can reflect abstract and realistic imagery. Students can explore the exciting possibilities of handmade paper making, creating recycled and plant fibre pulps that make papers on which to write, print and draw, decorative papers for display. There are also more exciting possibilities to be explored in the use and making of coloured and textured pulps, the encapsulation of 3D objects, layered, moulded and joined papers that once dry can be further worked by cutting, folding and stitching.
